On my approach
I want to know about— and help you better inhabit— the full expanse of who you are. What brings you alive? What do you want to understand? How does the world makes sense to you (or baffle you)? How you are bearing the world? How do you experience love and pain, growth and suffering?
I am engaged, collaborative, and curious in such conversation— definitely not the type to sit back and nod at you for an hour. I will ask a lot of questions, and hopefully we’ll share a good amount of laughter, all while you feel safely supported, thoughtfully challenged, and lovingly attuned to.
Let us work together to talk through whatever is going on in your heart, head, and life. And. Let’s work together to feel through it too.
We will pay attention to your body.
I will invite you to be aware of how you’re feeling and what you’re experiencing. I will be right there with you as you journey through your own nervous system— your inner landscape of sensation, impulse, numbness and intensity. Encoded in our bodies are the layers of experience we live through at psychological, social, and spiritual levels. Combining exploration of those layers with somatic contact and awareness is key to a holistic experience of healing.
When helpful, I incorporate a hands-on somatic approach best described as psychotherapeutic touch.
Touch is the first sense to develop in utero and remains a powerful source and conduit of healing throughout our lives. This kind of ethical, highly-trained touch requires consent, boundaries, and open communication.
Sometimes movement is called for too– whether to discharge hard stuff or to integrate new learning. We may stand, lay down, walk around, push and pull things, explore posture and position.
If it’s gorgeous outside, let’s go outside! You exist in your body and your body exists in the world around you, after all.
I believe healing is a process of integration– integrating all the parts that comprise the whole you: body, mind, spirit, heart, culture, history, environment, relationships, and beyond.
I weave together my 12+ years of training in various trauma-responsive modalities, somatic approaches to healing, scientific underpinnings of mindfulness and neurobiology, with bits of humanistic and narrative therapy frameworks in order to provide you with support that is both intuitive and individualized.
it’s not too late
to open your depths by plunging into them
and drink in the life that reveals itself quietly there
