What the heck is “somatic” & “relational” therapy anyway??

The word soma pertains to the body in its wholeness.
Working with the body in its wholeness means attending to our bodies as the containers of our entire life. Connecting the dots of our lived experience as we have lived it in our bodies is an incredible portal to restoration, to enlivening, and to wholeness. I like Prentiss Hemphill’s definition of “somatics” (the practice of somatic therapy) which is: the study of our bodies, trauma, and the practices we generate to develop awareness of our bodies and transform them.

And the relational part? The thing is, we just can’t do this humanness thing on our own. We need each other— for nervous system regulation, for witness and counsel, for holding and holding up. Safe, attuned therapeutic support is one of many ways we can experience more meaningful, medicinal connection.

But what does it cost?

I charge a sliding scale from $85-140/session.**

Accessibility and decolonization are values central to my practice.
To determine where you fall on the sliding scale, I invite you to consider the political, historical, & personal factors that comprise your socioeconomic position.
Example
Experiencing socioeconomic privilege?
Pay 125-140.
Are you currently but not reliably economically comfortable?
Pay 100-125.
Feeling financially stressed or struggling with economic injustice?
Pay 85-100.
~ I accept electronic payment through certain apps, cash, or checks (if you still have any of those in a drawer somewhere). I’m not set up to swipe credit cards.
Payment is required at the time of the session.
**Sessions are always 60 minutes long. I never want anyone to feel stressed out by the clock (myself included!). Should we determine that longer sessions would be most helpful, I am happy to extend future session times to 90-120 minutes and we will discuss how to adjust the payment scale accordingly.

Do you take insurance?
I do not accept or bill any insurance.

Do you do Telehealth?
I am open to having telehealth appointments with established clients with whom I’ve been working for a long time. We can talk about it once we’ve got a good rhythm going together.

What’s your cancellation policy?

I get it; shit happens. Please give me 24+ hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.
No-show appointments or repeat same-day cancellations will result in a cancellation fee of $100.
